You need to count your pages today and be sure that you get yourself on schedule!

@@@@EDITING/REVISION SHEET:

This is a new Editing/Revision sheet for your writing folder. It is a yellow sheet of paper. I should see this editing sheet first when I open your writing folder to grade it. The sheet shoul dbe stapled to the page you got edited and the final draft (revision) of that edited page.

One option should be to pick out your page today and take that sheet and the written page home to get it edited by an adult. SOON!

WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 20

@@@@FINISH READING PHINEAS GAGE:

You actually can have until Monday to complete this book. I will check out copies of the book over the weekend to anyone who is behind in the reading.

@@@@CREATE QAR QUESTIONS:

We started this earlier this week when we wrote 5 "RIGHT THERE" questions on notebook paper. Today we reviewed "AUTHOR AND ME," "THINK AND SEARCH," and "ON MY OWN" questions. Students were given a GREEN QAR WORKSHEET that had the notes for each type of question PLUS it had the assignment for students to create examples for each type of question type. Most students worked on this for the rest of the hour. Many of them stored the sheet in the back file location instead of take the sheets home, because they kind of need the book to complete the assignment.

I probably won't need you to hand these in until around TUESDAY of next week.

@@@@TAKE RC TEST ON PHINEAS GAGE:

You do not have to take the RC test today, especially NOT if you have not finished the book yet...you can go take the test today, Friday, or Monday when we go to the library together.

@@@@SPELLING ACTIVITY N--DUE TODAY:

Because of the shortened assembly schedule yesterday, several of the classes did not have sufficient time to work on spelling in class. As a result, I am collecting Spelling Activities at the end of the hour today. Students can use class time to get that work completed, if needed.

@@@@PHINEAS GAGE--TRY TO FINISH!

Today I read pages 59--64 aloud. Students were given the rest of the classtime to read the pages they had skipped and to complete the rest of the book (pages 65--75). Students should be finished with the book by the end of this week.

@@@@5 "RIGHT THERE" QUESTIONS & ANSWERS & P. #s:

With the final 10 minutes of class left, students used the entire book to create 5 "RIGHT THERE" questions, the answer, and the page number....all written on a sheet of paper that was placed in a file for safe keeping. We will pull this sheet back out later to create some other questions as we read the last chapters of this book.

@@@@30 MINUTE WRITING NOTE--DUE:

Since I was absent yesterday, I did not collect the writing notes until today. If you did not have them today you are welcome to make up that writing in my class over lunch time any day this week. You do loose points for every day it is late.

@@@@GRADED PAPERS HANDED BACK

I handed a graded spelling activity and your KLM Spelling Test back to your graded work folders. THERE WILL BE NO SPELLING THIS WEEK!

@@@@WRITING LAB:

We missed a writing lab day last week due to the snow day. PLUS I discovered last week that the quarter DOES NOT end the day before Spring Break....RATHER....it ends the week before! SO...your writing fodlers are going to be due THREE DAYS EARLIER than first stated. They are due MARCH 3rd!

@@@@SPELLING TEST KLM/SPELLING ACTIVITY:

Because the spelling activity ended up being so difficult to complete, I allowed studnts to use the "Unscramble" side on their spelling tests today. When students were finished with the test, they stapled the activity to the test and handed them both in.

@@@@PHINEAS GAGE TO P. 42:

Once the spelling test was completed, students read independently in the book. We left off somewhere in the p.25-26 area. We are trying to complete the 2nd chapter, ending on p. 42.
